Dental Pulp Bank
Dental pulp is an oral tissue rich in nerves, blood vessels, and mesenchymal stem cells, enveloped by dentin. In fact, one of the best sources of stem cells is dental pulp tissue, which originates from neural crest cells. Dental pulp tissue stem cells have high proliferation, differentiation, and colony-forming abilities, and form ectomesenchymal tissues.
A significant advantage of storing dental pulp as a source of mesenchymal stem cells is its non-transient accessibility; meaning these cells are found in healthy deciduous teeth that are falling out (children aged 5 to 12 years) or permanent teeth extracted for orthodontics and wisdom teeth, preferably up to the age of 25. The aging process and rate of apoptosis in dental pulp stem cells are very low, and they possess the potential to differentiate into various cell lineages such as dentin-producing odontoblasts, osteoblasts, adipocytes, chondrocytes, smooth and striated muscles, and neural cells.
Due to their strong performance in immune system modulation and high proliferative capacity, dental pulp stem cells are thought to have potential therapeutic applications in clinical settings (regenerative therapies). Although limited clinical studies using dental pulp tissue stem cells have been reported for oral and dental diseases so far, preliminary clinical data in this field have led to the development of treatment methods based on these cells for humans. Consequently, it is probable that in the future, due to advancements in science and technology, these cells will be actively used in regenerative therapies (for eye, liver, muscle, neurological, bone diseases, etc.).
Fortunately, at the end of **1402 (Iranian calendar, approximately March 2024)**, we successfully finalized the setup process for this project and obtained the technical knowledge for this service. Therefore, the dental pulp project at Royan Stem Cell Technology Company is currently in the phase of launching a public dental pulp stem cell bank, and it is hoped that this service will be offered to you soon. Information regarding the launch of the dental pulp bank will be announced through Royan Stem Cell Technology Company's website (rsct.ir) and Instagram account.
